So Long, And Thanks for All The Fish
Over the past few weeks I’ve been growing restless, and it has taken me forever to figure out why. Today on the subway I had an epiphany (most of my epiphanies happen on the toilet, not sure why this one was on the train): I’m restless because I’m doing way too much consuming and not enough creating. Every day I’m on Twitter, Tumblr, Vimeo, Facebook, Foursquare, and my RSS feeds and all I do is read about all of the awesome stuff going on around me, but I never contribute anything myself. The space that I’m passionate about (technology) is at the most exciting point it has ever been in its history, and here I am sitting around on my chair doing nothing about it.
Well, I’ve had enough. I’ve had an idea I’ve been half-assing and dabbling in for a few months and it’s about time I get serious about it. Unfortunately, I’m not the most disciplined person when it comes to time management, so to see this personal project through I’m going to have to set up some rules and boundaries, and #1 means a serious cutback on consuming.
I’m giving up Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, and others for at least the next month, if not longer. I’ll pop in here every once in a while (hopefully to post updates on how awesome my personal project is going) but it will be to a greatly reduced extent. I shall miss you Internet, I hope you miss me back.
So here I go. So long, and thanks for all the fish:
